“Change doesn’t happen with positive thinking alone. Sometimes we have to delve into the shadow side and embrace the resistant thoughts that keep us from living the lives we want. It isn’t easy to admit we have those darker thoughts, but we can change our lives when we have the courage to acknowledge them.”

Shadoe Caprell, AMFT

To me, therapy isn’t about being fixed after being broken. It’s about finding the freedom to live a life as truly & authentically YOU as possible.

We all have our own stories that deserve to be heard. We all deserve to be known. My intention as a therapist is to be a partner & advocate on the journey to internal contentment. Honestly, you’re the one doing the hard work. I’m here to partner with you along the way. My goal is to be a safe space for you to rest & engage on whatever level you’re comfortable with.

Sometimes, this work takes us places we’ve avoided for a long time, but we have to go there to find genuine healing. I”m here to make sure that while you’re working through the discomfort, you’re not alone.

You have someone in your corner – not trying to fix you, but to simply be as curious about you as you are. Let’s figure that out together, shall we?

Nicole Inslee, LCSW

Hello, I’m Nicole! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been passionately working with clients from all ages and backgrounds since I graduated with my master’s degree from Millersville University in 2016.

My intention is to create a safe space to walk alongside you from where you are, to where you want to be. I am not here to judge but provide you with the support you need with an open-mind and empathetic heart. I aim to look at the whole person to utilize your strengths and resources, alongside my training and experience, to identify personal goals and assist you in reaching those. A few areas of my interest include depression, anxiety, life transitions, stress and mood management, and individuals needing support in the LGBTQIA+ community. I prefer to use a strengths-based, person-centered approach, including other approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), DBT-informed interventions, and trauma-informed care. I do in-person sessions, and virtual as requested.

“It’s ok to not be ok. And it’s ok to talk about it. I am here for you.”

Kate Hartman, LSW

Hi, I’m Kate! Everyone deserves a chance to improve themselves. Therapy is the journey of self-discovery, and along the way, you can self-heal. My approach as your therapist is to guide you in your self-discovery, and we learn together where the healing within yourself needs to begin. You are the expert of yourself and what you need. As your therapist, I am here to provide you with a warm, welcoming, and respectful environment that allows you to feel open and vulnerable. We will create short-term goals in doable doses that will promote the growth you desire within yourself. As a couple’s therapist, I will provide a space to allow each partner to voice their needs in the relationship and support the areas that are in need of improvement in the relationship. I have worked with diverse populations, including patients who struggle with anxiety, depression, who are encountering relationship issues, infidelity issues, LGBTQIA+, and those who have experienced trauma.  I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), a solution-focused approach, mindfulness, and a trauma-informed approach. I am currently working with adults and couples in-person and virtually from 8 am to 5 pm.

“You can get mental health care from the comfort of your home through live video sessions. Online therapy means help is available, and it’s literally at your fingertips.”

Caroline Cheek, LPC

Hi, I am Caroline. I’m an Art Therapist at balanced life counseling and my approach is all about you—your experiences, your feelings, and your unique path toward healing. I believe that meaningful change starts with feeling truly seen, heard, and understood. My role is to walk alongside you, offering a safe and supportive space where creativity becomes a tool for deeper connection and healing

Psychodynamically trained, I specialize in working with attachment issues, understanding how early and ongoing relationships shape how you connect with yourself and others. My approach is trauma-informed and client-centered, honoring your unique experiences and pacing. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to help you identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns, build coping skills, and gain clarity around difficult emotions. Additionally, I draw on Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) principles to help you deepen your emotional awareness, enhance emotional regulation, and build stronger, more secure connections.

Combining these evidence-based approaches with art therapy allows you to access emotions and insights that words alone may not reach, offering new pathways toward healing and growth. I hold a Master of Arts in Art Therapy from NYU and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. Building a genuine, trusting relationship is at the heart of my work. I’m here to support you in cultivating healthier, more meaningful connections with yourself and others through creativity and compassion. Healing is a creative journey, and I would be honored to walk that path with you. Feel free to reach out—I’d love to explore how therapy can support your healing and growth.

Everyone’s plan is unique – no two are alike. So, whether it is a career change, relationship change, or health issue, we will work through them and give your life new direction. This enables you to experience greater peace, harmony and love within yourself, and then spread it to others.
